Well at least the weather has been perfect for sailing and the numbers coming through on a Tuesday are certainly testament to that. Winter is now with us so fingers crossed for good days.

Socially many of us enjoyed a night of Trivia which was lots of fun and great to see so many happy faces enjoying the night. Thanks for all those that attended and made it such fun.

While talking socialising we have coming up :

  • Barefoot Bowls at Paradise Point Bowls Club on 23rd June from 4pm
  • Winter Solstice Dinner on 11th July at the CSI Club, Southport

We hope you can all attend as these functions while subsidised by the Club are part of our way of saying thank you to you all and enables us all to catch up on a level other than while hard at it at Hollywell.

Did you know –

Sailability and clubs with similar operations provide sailing to people with disability in some 23 countries, including the United States, Canada, Greece, Japan, Italy and Hong Kong. ‘Sail to Prevail’ in the United States, for example, has been operating for around 30 years. Whereas Sailability Hong Kong is a relative newcomer. The latter commenced sailing in 2010.

Every week all around Australia and the World there are Volunteers just like us out there assisting others enjoy the water. That’s a great feeling that we are part of this fantastic organisation.

One of our sponsors, CSI Club Southport, are participating in a Southport Open Day on 28th June from 1pm to 4pm and have asked if we would like to participate and show off what we do and maybe recruit some more clients and volunteers and generally just get our name out there, so please if you have some time come on down and join in the fun.

Sponsorships are a major backbone to an organisation such as our so if you know of anyone that you feel may like to assist, feel free to mention them to any of our Committee and we can approach them on your behalf. As you can appreciate running a fleet such as our requires a good backing of funds so we are always on the look out for any assistance we can get.

Well that’s it from the Captain’s Desk for this month. May you have wind in your sails and seas to enjoy.

President.
