New & Existing Clients – What you need to know…

Our Mission statement

Sailability Gold Coast’s mission is to enhance the lifestyle of people with disabilities by introducing them to the pleasures of on-water sporting activities, particularly sailing.

Days and times

  • Sailability is open every Tuesday (weather permitting) at Southport Yacht Club, Hollywell Sailing Squadron, 1 Marina Crescent Hollywell 4216
  • From 9am to 12.30pm
  • Sailing is organised on a first come, first served basis
  • Thursday morning sailing is also available (by appointment only). Please phone 0435 767 383 to book & to check if sailing will be on (subject to weather conditions).

Costs

  • Sailing costs $15.00 for a 40 minute trip in our sailing vessels
  • Rides on our  Pontoon Boat “Freedom” is $20.00 pp for 30 minutes
  • Payment by cash or card at our Admin Desk.  A cash-register docket is issued for each payment.

Sailing options

  • We operate up to 14 Hansa 303 Doubles Sailing Dinghies, which have weighted centerboards, making them extremely safe
  • 2 Salvo Yachts
  • 1 Savage Dolphin Yacht
  • 1 Pontoon boat “Freedom”, which can accommodate wheel-chairs. Due to popularity, the wait time can be lengthy
  • A hoist on our dock facilitates access to and from our 303 Sailing Dinghies and yachts where required

What to bring

  • Bring along a Hat and Sunscreen

What is provided

  • Life jackets and slings as required, as well as pods for better seating posture if needed.
  • On Tuesdays,  a BBQ normally operates with  sausages and cold drinks available at a small cost

Parking

  • Parking for unloading and loading clients into vehicles is available inside the Southport Yacht Club grounds
  • Vehicles must be relocated to the outside parking areas to ensure there is sufficient space for other clients arriving and departing.

NDIS

  • While Sailability  does not provide advice or guidance on NDIS or NDIA matters we do note that many of our clients receive funding from NDIS and that some clients may be eligible to recover their sailing fees under their NDIS funding arrangements. Clients are encouraged to check their eligibility to recover their sailing fees with their relevant Supervisor, Provider, or direct with the NDIA as appropriate.
